The recruiting world is a tricky one. Think about it: you have thousands of young players playing across black tops, high school tournaments, AAU tournaments, and anywhere a basket can be posted. This presents finding every possible college level talent a difficult one. There are 351 Division 1 schools alone, which means every year you have roughly 900 kids signing Division 1 letters of intent. So, why do we become enamored with the top 150? We will have young players go to major Division 1 schools who aren’t ranked inside the famous top 150 that multiple sites love to put as their prized measuring tool.

Let me introduce you to Class of 2019 point guard Deuce Dean. Deuce is a 6’4″ 180lbs PG from Columbia, South Carolina. Deuce is a physical guard who is able to score from all three levels on the court. What makes him different than most point guards coming up is his vision. Deuce possesses the rare quality to make players around him better by engaging in a pass first mentality. He hasn’t even started his junior year of high school, but Deuce has the physical tools to bully smaller guards.

This summer has really been heating up for Deuce. He made the move to play for Team NC Loaded this summer and it has paid dividends. Deuce has been playing against high-level national competition and showing why he belongs. Against the highly touted NY Gouchoes, he finished with 18 points and 8 assists. Deuce really seemed to capture Rivals attention with his 25 points 7 assists at the Southern Jam Fest (Hampton, VA) earlier this summer.

Since then, Dean has quickly risen on college radars. This summer he has landed offers from Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Toledo, and the Citadel. While Florida, Wake Forest, Virginia, and South Carolina are all high on him. Don’t be surprised if one of those schools decides the throw the multidimensional guard another offer his way soon. Other schools such as Duke, Stanford, Tennessee, Tulane, St. Mary’s, St. Joes, Florida Gulf Coast, College of Charleston, Charlotte, Yale, and Princeton have also turned their attention to the Columbia, South Carolina product. With all of this attention, Deuce is consistently getting a 3-star grade on the national level. Don’t be surprised to see him crack into the top 150 across sites for the Class of 2019.

Schools in the north and northeast such as Princeton, Yale, and St. Joes have inquired about him, but what about the major programs? If I’m Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Villanova, Temple, Georgetown, Maryland, UCONN, and  Cincinnati, I’m inquiring about him as soon as I can before it is too late. Soon schools on the national level will salivate over this diamond in the rough. You can find this future star playing for York Prep (Rock Hill, SC) this high school season. This will be his first season with York Prep transferring from Dutch Fork (Irmo, SC) to help assert himself on the national level.
