According to the Chicago Tribune and various reports, Bulls guard Derrick Rose, who underwent surgery for a torn meniscus on Feb. 27, feels no pain in his knee and hopes to be cleared for contact sometime this week or next.

K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop), a writer for the Chicago Tribune who covers the Chicago Bulls interviewed Rose after a recent practice and the former MVP talked about his recent knee injury and his recovery.

Rose also spoke to Nick Friedell of ESPNChicago.com, and he seemed optimistic that he could return to the floor prior to the start of the NBA Playoffs.

“I’m feeling good,” Rose said. “I’m trying to do all the right things, put all the positives in the bag and just try to go with it. It’s something that I’ve been doing for a long time with rehab. It’s a grind — definitely a grind — but I’m getting used to it.”

As of now there is no official word from the Chicago Bulls management of whether or not Derrick Rose will be back in time for the playoffs but this seems like a positive sign for the Bulls, who recently clinched a playoff berth after defeating the Charlotte Hornets 98-86 on Monday night.

Rose, 26, has had his fair of injuries in recent years. The 2010-2011 MVP has dealt with knee problems varying from simple soreness to meniscus and ACL tears since he has won the award.

Despite all that, if/when he steps back on the court this season, he will definitely be a difference maker for the Bulls. Chicago is currently the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a record 43-29, and they will square off against the fourth seeded Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night, whom they are currently a half game above in the standings.
