After a season that started with high hopes and ended with so much disappointment after being knocked out of the first round of the playoffs in five-games, the Trailblazers have something they can be excited about for the upcoming season.

Damian Lillard is close to signing a five year contract worth up to $120 million dollars which would secure Lillard for the long run.

Marc Stein of ESPN.com reported the news:

They may already be losing star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge because of teams offering him a giant contract this summer in free agency, so they needed to secure Lillard before the team they had planned on building around for years to come, fell apart.

The chance of losing players Wes Matthews and Robin Lopez are also significantly great. This is a young team that, for right now, only has one start in place. They have the chance of signing another big name but the chances are unlikely with other teams very willing to outbid them.

For now, they have Lillard locked up and can plan on signing others to play around him this season.
