The New York Knicks have looked to trade shooting guard Courtney Lee this summer, according to a report from Marc Berman of The New York Post.

Lee has two years and $25 million left on his contract. The 32-year-old signed a four-year, $48 million free agent deal with the Knicks back in 2016.

In 76 games last season, Lee averaged 12.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from three.

The Knicks are looking to move Lee because Tim Hardaway Jr., who like Lee, is also a natural two-guard, has emerged as the better player moving forward.

Hardaway Jr. hasn’t spoken to Lee this offseason, another indication Lee is not paramount in the Knicks’ plans.

In 753 games in the NBA, Lee has career averages of 10.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists with the Orlando Magic, New Jersey Nets (now Brooklyn Nets), Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Hornets and Knicks.

The Knicks likely won’t make the playoffs in 2018-19 since star forward Kristaps Porzingis will miss most of the season recovering from his ACL tear. Lee would be a valuable addition to a postseason contender. He’s a solid defender and a knock down perimeter shooter.
