Back on January 15, 2009 Jodie Meeks (of the Detroit Pistons) put forth arguably the greatest single game performance in the University of Kentucky’s storied basketball history. Meeks torched the helpless Tennessee Volunteers to the tune of 54 Points, 8 Rebounds & 4 Assists on 15-22 Shooting (10-15 from 3 Point Range) as well as 14-14 from the charity stripe. Talk about an efficient all-around performance. To catch fire is one thing, but giving a hated rival 50-plus, in their gym?? UNREAL.

The 54 points were not only a career high for Jodie Meeks, but they broke Dan Issel’s 39 year School record of 53 points in the process. 2008-09 was a breakout year for Meeks, as he would finish the season as one of the top scorers in the country as well as an All-American. Safe to say, although he may not be the focal point of any pro offense, his shooting touch has translated well to the NBA level.

Fast forward to the 2015 UK Wildcats — they may not have a Jodie Meeks on their roster, but they do boast the best starting “10” in College Basketball. Next up for the undefeated (38-0) Wildcats is a Final Four rematch with Wisconsin.
