The 1991-92 Duke Blue Devils were a team of destiny. Fresh off of a National Title the previous year, the daunting task of repeating was set in stone from the onset of the season. A humbling loss to the legendary UNLV Running Rebels during the 1990 NCAA Title game only served to fuel Coach K’s troops. Every opponent in 1992 was going to give the Blue Devils their best shot, the devils playing in many of hostile environments. This collection of Blue Devils possessed arguably the the most hated starting 5 in College Basketball History, led by the polarizing Christian Laettner and the much hated Bobby Hurley, Grant Hill and Brian Davis. Losing 2 games on the season to in-state conference rivals North Carolina and Wake Forrest (both on the road) Coach K’s bunch met each and every challenge head on. They would win the ACC in convincing fashion, dismantling the Tar Heels by 20 points in the Conference Title game. A 1 seed in tow, the Blue Devils breezed through their first three opponents Campbell, Iowa and Seton Hall in convincing fashion. Their dream season nearly came to a disappointing end against Kentucky in Regional Final. Arguably the greatest College Basketball Game ever played, if it were not for the late game heroics of Christian Laettner, Duke’s dream season would’ve ended in Philadelphia at the Spectrum. A close 3 point victory over Indiana in the Final Four set the stage for an epic rematch with the Michigan Wolverines and their Fab-Five. After a close first half, the Blue Devils experience won out as they rolled over the Wolverines to a 20 point win and their second consecutive NCAA title. With a 34-2 record, the 1992 Duke Blue Devils were easily Coach Krzyzewski’s most successful team.

Next up for Mike Krzyzewski and his 2015 Blue Devils is a meeting with Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans. Good luck to the Duke in the Final Four!
