According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Los Angeles Clippers intend to sign veteran guard Dahntay Jones to a 10-day contract. Originally, the Clippers planned to sign Darius Miller to a 10-day contract, but apparently they favored the idea of inking Jones to a 10-day deal more.

Jones, 34, was playing for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Developmental League this season, averaging 13.8 points per game. Jones will travel to Portland to join the Clippers for their Wednesday night matchup against the Trail Blazers.

Los Angeles desperately needs to bolster their bench, as a lack of depth has been one of their major downfalls this year. The Clippers rank 27th in bench points per game, trailing the likes of the Philadelphia Sixers, Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Clippers also are in dire need of defensive help on the wing, and luckily for them, that’s an area of expertise for Jones.

After bringing in Jones, the Clippers hope to reunite head coach Doc Rivers with point guard Nate Robinson, who was recently traded to the Celtics and then bought out by the club. Los Angeles also has their sights set on Rivers’ son Austin, who was also traded to the Celtics as apart of a three-team deal involving the New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies.
