After spending more than $30 million of the public’s money to renovate Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte has won the bid to host the 2017 NBA All-Star Game according to Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer.

Charlotte’s victory will be formally announced during a press conference on Tuesday that will feature Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan and NBA commissioner Adam Silver, who acknowledged back in December that Charlotte would be soon to host All-Star Weekend.
Charlotte last hosted the NBA All-Star Game back in 1991, when the East beat the West 116-114 at the Charlotte Coliseum. Charles Barkley was named MVP of the game after scoring 17 points and pulling down 22 rebounds.
Current NBA players that were born in North Carolina include the likes of Chris Paul and John Wall.
