iCarmelo Anthony left Monday’s game against the Houston Rockets with back spasms.

New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony, who revealed last week that he has been playing with discomfort in his left knee since the second game of the season, suffered another injury during New York’s 91-86 loss to the Houston Rockets on Monday night.

Anthony left the game with back spasms late in the first half and did not return, and after the contest he went to a doctor in Houston to receive medication that was not made available to him at the arena.

Anthony began grimacing after nailing a jump shot with about two minutes left in the third quarter, and asked to be taken out after attempting to play through the injury. Anthony is expected to fly with the team to Dallas, where the Knicks will take on the Mavericks Wednesday night.

Carmelo Anthony is averaging 23.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game this season for the Knicks, who have lost 10 of their last 12 games.
