Since December 26th, the Clippers have been fighting to stay in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race without one of their star players in Blake Griffin. Griffin was out with a quad injury before breaking his hand in a scuffle with a team trainer soon after. This has caused the big man out of Oklahoma to miss some quality time with the team.

Today, coach Doc Rivers announced that Griffin would be returning to practice.

It can not go unforgotten that Griffin must serve his four game suspension first before returning to action. The suspension comes from the altercation with the team trainer that caused Griffin to break his hand.

If activated Sunday, the earliest he could play would be a week later against the Wizards at home. It will be very fun to see how Blake comes back from the injuries. People were saying that the Clippers may have been better off the rest of the season without him. That couldn’t be further from the truth as Griffin was averaging 23.2 ppg and 8.7 rpg before the injuries. Any team will benefit from numbers like that. As a 4th seed in the Western Conference right now, Griffin will be coming back at the right time for the Clippers.
