Anthony Davis of the New Orelans Pelicans has agreed on an extension with the team. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports first reported.

The contract is 4 more years (player option for a 5th) added on to his rookie contact worth about $145 million. He currently was in a contract year before signing the deal. Davis was having a MVP type season this past year, averaging 24.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists and leading the Pelicans to a playoff appearance.

This really comes as no surprise. Davis is the heart, soul and future of this franchise and getting him locked up for the next couple of years is a positive move. Along that the team hired recent champion Alvin Gentry as there new head coach, things are looking bright in New Orleans. The next step for them is to find the right free agents to build around Davis and fit into Coach Gentry’s playing style.
