Al Horford. There is not a team that wouldn’t want a player of his caliber on their team. Horford, first known for his low post ability coming out of college, has since improved his game beyond expectation by stretching out to the three point line and becoming a consistent shooter. As a big man, he has the ability to play both the four and five position. At the five he can even spread the floor, become a play maker, and play some decent defense.

With Horford becoming a free agent this summer, he will be attracting the eyes of many teams around the league. In fact, the Magic, Pistons, and Lakers, are the teams that have the most significant interest in Horford.

Other teams will definitely come into the fold for Horford, but it has to be someone willing to give him a max contract, or else he won’t be signing.

With that being said, how can Horford fit into these offenses that are gaining interest in him? Orlando has a young rising star in Aaron Gordon. With Gordon being a power forward, you could put Horford in at the five, which would create a smaller, yet more athletic lineup that would fit great in today’s NBA. With veteran Nikola Vucevic manning the five position, you could put Horford at the four, which would be perfect for his skills on the baseline, as he can work the post or stretch out to the corner for a jump shot.

For Detroit, adding Horford could be what big man Andre Drummond needs because Horford can do a lot more than just space the floor. The Lakers can bring him on to be a veteran presence with a younger Lakers team that will surely be improving with new head coach Luke Walton. A team that has not been mentioned that can make a run for him would be Toronto. Toronto would really be able to contend in the Eastern Conference again if they added a guy like Horford, especially if their roster stays intact.

All this can be just talk if Atlanta offers a larger contract for him to stay. Staying in Atlanta would most likely bring him the most success in the short term. He said that he wants to stay with Atlanta. Lets see if he is a man of his word, because he has options.
