5 players I would love to see in Ice Cube’s ‘Big3’ league

Kobe Bryant Allen Iverson Big3

Ice Cube’s Big3 league of retired players has been starting to get a lot of notoriety. With names like Allen Iverson, Baron Davis, and Kevin Garnett amongst others, getting to watch some of our past favorite players hit the court again is quite exciting. Despite the possibility of some them gaining weight and losing some of their talents, I still believe this league will be entertaining. The roster that they have is pretty enticing but there are a few names that I would love to see out there on the court.

Reggie Miller

Reggie Miller is one of the best players/shooters of his time and as we know, when it comes to aging, your shot is one of the last things to go. There’s no doubt in my mind that Reggie Miller still has it and can go out there and compete in this 3 vs 3 league. He may not be able to run off of screens like he once did but I would love to see him put the ball in the basket once again.

Jason Kidd

Jason Kidd is definitely too busy coaching one of the most entertaining young guys in the NBA in Giannis Antetokounmpo but boy would I love to see him orchestrate an offense again. Kidd was one of a kind as a 6’4 point guard who could get people out of their seats with his passing. 2nd in all-time assists and 8th in 3-pointers made, Jason Kidd was the best of both worlds. There’s some who say we may be getting the next Jason Kidd with Lonzo Ball becoming a household name but I must say, I’ll take the original Jason Kidd for now. I’m not sure how much game he still has but I’m sure that he can still abuse a mismatch in the post and pass his teammates open in this Big3 league.

Steve Nash

Steve Nash is one guy who I believe would absolutely dominate in this league. He always used his quickness to his advantage and in an 3 vs 3 basketball game, he would have a ton of room to operate and blow by defenders. Not only would he be entertaining because of how crafty is he with the ball but I truly believe that he’s still in tip-top shape. He’s only two years removed from the game and plenty of his teammates have harped on how much of a stickler he is for being in shape. Just imagine Steve Nash in a pick and roll in a 3 on 3 game… It would be lay-up city!

Ray Allen

Who couldn’t use a Ray Allen on their team to spot up and shoot? I’m sure they could in the Big3 league and I’m sure some could in the NBA. I follow Allen on Instagram so I know for sure he’s still active and in shape. He posted a video just recently showing us that his shot is still silky smooth.

I know Ray Allen could be deadly and effective in this Big3 league for two reasons. One. As soon as one of his teammates drives to the basket, that’s a knockdown three because help is limited. If they decide not to help then his teammate gets an open basket. Two. I know none of those guys are willing or able to chase him around.

Kobe “Bean” Bryant

I hope you didn’t think I was going to leave off the Black Mamba. As the 2015-2016 season slowly came to an end, I was wondering what basketball without Kobe would be like and boy do I miss him. Being the die-hard Bryant fan that I am, I would take watching Kobe play basketball in any capacity that I could. If that’s playing 3 on 3 against other retired players then so be it. How iconic would it be for Kobe Bryant to go face to face against Allen Iverson once again, regardless of how washed they are. I know it’s not going to happen and I’m just dreaming but I know I don’t speak alone when I say we want Kobe Bryant in the Big3.
