Former Class of 2017 high school star Mitchell Robinson, has left Western Kentucky yet again. His decision was made based on wanting to focus his efforts on training for the upcoming 2018 NBA Draft.

Robinson told Scout.com:

“I’ve decided to leave Western Kentucky and just focus on next year’s NBA Draft. I want to thank Western Kentucky, the coaching staff, the fans and my teammates, but I decided to pursue a professional career.”

This isn’t the first time that Robinson has left Western Kentucky. In late July, the 5 star prospect decided to pack all of his belongings and head back to his hometown of New Orleans. The strange part about it was that he told no one on the Western Kentucky staff. They didn’t figure out what was going on until they found his dorm room empty the next day due to Robinson not attending workouts.

Western Kentucky head coach Rick Stansbury then headed to New Orleans to meet with Robinson and his family. Robinson expressed his opinions about having second thoughts on attending Western Kentucky. The following Tuesday coach Stansbury released a statement that Robinson was free to transfer.

On August 27th, it was reported that Robinson wanted to come back to Western Kentucky. Since he technically never transferred, Robinson was eligible to play and practice with the Hilltoppers immediately. Robinson then re-enrolled with Western Kentucky.

Now once again the 2017 no. 9 prospect, per scout, has left Western Kentucky. He will go back to his school of thought to take a year off from college to just train. It looks like the next time we will see Mitchell Robinson play is in the 2018 NBA Summer League.
